Frakes ranks in top ten on CATS writing, reading assessment

Frakes School Center earned an impressive achievement on the most recent CATS assessment in the state of Kentucky - seventh grade students (2003-04 class) at the school scored in the top 10 schools in Kentucky in the areas of Writing (ninth in state) teacher, Gary Baker and Reading (tenth in the state. The seventh grade writing teacher is Gary Baker, and the reading teacher is Bev Wylie.

Principal Patricia Howard, praised her faculty and staff for their hard work and their success on the assessment. She also gave kudos tof the Frakes community for the suppory the school receives.

"Without support at home, success in school is much harder to achieve," stated Howard. "We are blessed at our little school to have phenomenal support from the entire community for whatever we do here."

The achievement was also praised by Bell County Superintendent George Thompson.

"We are extremely pleased that a school in the Bell County School District has been this successful," he said. "Frakes School Center is currently one of the standard bearers for success in this state and their successes prove that children form the mountains can and do achieve at high standards.

Thompson further praised the faculty and staff by saying, "When we all work together toward the same goal, great things can happen. They are happening at Frakes. I am very proud of the school's achievement."
