On September 30, 2012, a good man, Herbert Dean Turner, 50, lovingly known as Herb and Herbie to his friends and family, went to be with the Lord. Herb was a very honest man who took pride in treating others with respect and offering a helping hand whenever it was needed.
At a very young age Herb was saved at Ingles Chapel Church in Rose Hill, Va. He had always had a servant’s heart and was pleased that he and his wife Sandy had begun to attend church again. He would later be anointed with oil in May of 2012.
Herb had many highlights in his life one of which would be marrying the love of his life, Cursandra (Sandy) Vass. Herb was a lead pressman for 24 years at Quebecor Printing located in Dickson, Tenn. He would go on to open a carwash in White Bluff, Tenn. Pioneer Carwash and Clydston Secured Storage in Waverly, Tenn. both of which his wife continues to own and operate. He would spend his leisure time fishing and riding his Harley.
Herb was preceded in death by his grandparents, Singleton and Etta Dean & Jesse and Carrie Turner, father and mother, Hoover and Mildred Turner. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sandy Turner; his sister, Joyce Williams and her husband Rick; his nephew Richard Williams and his wife Carolyn and their children Whitney, Zachary, Collin, and Madison; his niece Carrie Bullock and husband Tom and their daughter Charlotte( Charlie); mother and father-in-law Betty and Johnny Roberts; brother-in-law Brad Vass and his wife Kathy and their children Brandy Wires and her husband Kenny and their daughter Madelyn; Casey and Casey’s girlfriend Christine; brother-in-law Brent Roberts and his children Olivia, Riley, and Amber; sister-in-law Bridget and her son Jordan; and numerous friends and family whom he loved dearly, along with his dog Lexie.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Clark presiding. The family will leave from Creech Funeral Home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, for a procession to the Edds Cemetery in Rose Hill, where graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Frank Neal, Jr., David Whitt, Tim McDavid, Marcus Green, Bud Martin, Ed McCroy, Michael Weeks and Gary Moran.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Ramsey and Noodler Neal.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, at the Creech Funeral Home.
