Minnie Hunley will celebrate her 100th birthday on Saturday. She was born on Jan. 19, 1913 to the late Lloyd and Hallie Jessie.
She has 10 children: Elbert Hunley, of Knoxville, Tenn., Mary Ethel Hemming, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Marie Coleman, of Harrogate Tenn., Bobby Hunley, Johnny Hunley, Susie Gilbert, Jerry Hunley, all of Speedwell, Tenn., the late George Donald, James and Ralph Hunley.
She has 24 living grandchildren and one deceased; 37 living great-grandchildren and one deceased; and five great-great grandchildren.
Minnie, her parents and sisters Ethel and Edna Jessie were charter members of Flatwoods Freewill Baptist Church with Minnie being the oldest living member. The establishing pastor of the church was the Rev. Bud Wolford. The church was first started on the hill up from the church.
