Irene Mills Harkins, 73 of Hinkle, departed this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Oaktree Hospital, Corbin, in the arms of her loved ones.

She was born in Barbourville on June 6, 1939, and was a daughter of the late Willie Mills and Nanny Jones Smith. She had been a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tip Harkins Jr.; grandson, James Miller; brothers and sisters, Arnold Hinkle, Elmer Hinkle, Tom Hinkle and Warren Hinkle.

Survivors include her daughters, Gail Hinkle of Hinkle and Ann Bryant and husband Avery of Barbourville; grandchildren, Shanna Hubbard and husband Ronnie of Hinkle, Tip Miller of Elizabethtown, Michael Miller of Hinkle, Jennifer Hinkle of Hinkle and Casey Harkins of Barbourville; great-grandchildren, Angel and Andrea Hubbard, Lilly, Daniel and James Miller and Tiffany Harkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Patterson presiding.

Burial will be in the Hammonds Cemetery, Flat Lick, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
