Mrs. Joann Massengill McAfee, age 72 of Harrogate, Tenn., born Nov. 5, 1939, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012.

She was a member of Pump Springs Baptist Church and was retired from many years of dedicated service at the Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home.

Mrs. McAfee was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Mossie Massengill of Harrogate; brothers, Arlo, Meek and Dan Massengill; and several nieces and nephews

She is survived by her sons, SGM James McAfee and wife, Eileen of Clinton, Tenn.,, Judge John McAfee and wife, Leigh Ann of New Tazewell, Tenn., and Joe McAfee of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Vanessa McAfee of Sevierville,Tenn., Casey Mae McAfee of Clinton, Tenn., Thomas and Loren Grace McAfee of New Tazewell, Tenn.; and her great-grandchild, Chole Allen McAfee of Clinton, Tenn.

Also to mourn her passing and cherish her memories are her siblings, Margie Adams of Delaware, Ohio, Barbara Owsley of Harrogate, Tenn., Nathan Massengill and wife, Wilma of Harrogate, Tenn., Glenn Massengill and wife, Joyce of Knoxville, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Blanche Massengill and Paulette Massengill; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept, 8, at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Simmons, the Rev. Ken Lambert and John McAfee officiating.

Burial will be in the Forge Ridge Cemetery at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, with her grandson Thomas McAfee, and nephews Mike, Brian, Dwayne, Scotty Massengill, Jim, Donnie and Mike Adams, David Jones and Vance Heck serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her former co-workers from Claiborne County Hospital and Nursing Home.
