Kitty Lee Warren Davis left this earth on October 30, 2012, after a long illness, to join her Lord and Savior in Heaven. She was 94 years old. Kitty Lee Warren was born on the Left Fork of Straight Creek at Rella in Bell County on January 12, 1918. It is comforting to that she was at peace and did not suffer pain from her affliction with Alzheimers. She was in her home, surrounded by loved ones when she passed.

Kitty was the daughter of the late Dan and Amanda Slusher Warren. Fred S. Davis, her husband of 59 years, preceded her in death 14 years ago. Her brothers, Oscar and Claude Warren; a half-sister, Rosie Haynes Estep and a nephew, Warren Arvey Pursifull also preceded her in death.

Kitty was among the first graduating class from the old Bell County High School. She put a tremendous value on education and was tenacious in making certain that each of her children was educated and received a college degree. She was a woman of faith with a strong belief in God. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pineville, she loved the fellowship that Sunday morning services brought her. She enjoyed sitting on the pew next to her beloved sister, Beulah Pursifull as they sang hymns and listened to the sermon. Her faith helped her weather many difficult storms over the years. Faith and Family were the two things that she held most precious.

Kitty leaves three sons and two daughters, Warren (Phyllis) Davis of Versailles, Ohio; Freddy (Wilma) Davis of Log Mountain; Murrell Lee (Cynthia) Davis of Middlesboro, Beulah Davis (Jim) Lykins of Taylor Mill, Ky. and Deidra Davis-Evans (Stanley Evans) of Middlesboro. Deidra and Stan, her beloved son-in-law, resided with Kitty for the past fourteen years. They provided her with their loving care and support. A huge void will be left in their lives.

Six grandchildren are left behind with many memories to cherish of their special mamaw, Jimmy Lykins of Louisville; Lisa (Scott) Mace of Pineville; her name sake, Kitty (Scott) Zumbrink of Rossburg, Ohio; Suzanne Lee Lykins of Union; Freddy Wayne Davis of Pineville and Marla Lundergan of Richmond.

Left behind are four treasured great grandchildren, Kennedy Zumbrink of Rossburg, Ohio; Kaitlyn and Brittany Mace of Pineville and Hannigan Lundergan of Richmond.

She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Beulah Warren Pursifull of Pineville and a sister-in-law, Darcus Warren of Pineville.

Special friends who gave tender loving care and so much love and devotion to Kitty during her illness are: Dorlene Dunn, Trudy Gibson, Patsy Partin, Brenda Collett, Shirley Sizemore, Barbara Fuson and Dr. Martha Combs-Woolum and all of Bell County. The wonderful caring staff of Hospice, Mable Webb, Kim Baker and Lisa Perry, who came armed with knowledge and a caring heart each visit.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, November 1, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. William Boyd Bingham presiding. Music will be provided by Thomasa Risner. Interment will be private. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lykins, Freddy Davis III, Brent Pursifull, Trevor Pursifull, Chase Pursifull, Scott Mace, Jackie Davis and Eddie Davis.

Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Martha Combs-Woolum, the women of Hospice and her caregivers that were affectionately called Kitty’s Angels.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to noon Thursday, November 1, at the Creech Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly wishes donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Fred S. and Kitty Davis Scholarship fund for Bell County High School with First State Bank receiving donations.
