NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In a game dominated from start to finish by the Railsplitters, Lincoln Memorial University trumped the Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans in men’s soccer action by a margin of 4-0 on Wednesday night in Nashville.

With the nonconference victory, LMU moves to 6-2-1 on the season with a 3-0-1 mark over their last four contests. TNU drops to 7-5-0 overall.

The Railsplitters capped a complete performance on offense and defense with 22 total shots fired in the game while limiting the Trojans to only two shots over that span. LMU notched 13 shots on goal and held TNU to a lone attempt at goal in the match.

Mackenzie Wilde struck first for the ‘Splitters with a goal at the 39:27, using a pass from Yuri Passos to score from right side of the box. Wilde’s first goal of the 2012 season put LMU on top 1-0, which held as the score at the completion of the first 45 minutes of action.

The game would remain at a 1-0 advantage for the Railsplitters until LMU closed the contest with three goals in the final six minutes of play. Mario Pinto extended his South Atlantic Conference lead with his eighth goal of the season on an unassisted score in the 84th minute to push the lead to 2-0.

That score was followed by two goals in the 88th and 89th minutes to cap the contest with the Railsplitters on top, 4-0. Calum Calder tallied his first goal of the season with a pass from Leonardo Germniani at the 88:06 mark, while Chris Nash completed the scoring with his fifth goal of the year with 25 seconds remaining in the match. Nash was assisted on the play by Pedro Villa.

Marcel Barwanietz played all 90 minutes in goal for the Railsplitters, earning the shutout with one stop on the night. Braydon Brown made nine stops in goal despite surrendering four scores for the Trojans.

The Railsplitters also recorded four corner kicks in the match while limiting the opposition to only one.

The Lady Railsplitters didn’t fare as well in their match at Trevecca Nazarene Wednesday, surrendering the lone goal of the to the Trojans in the 20th minute to suffer a 1-0 loss.

Lincoln Memorial University falls to 5-3-1 on the season with the loss, while Trevecca jumps to 4-2-2.

The Trojans notched the only score of the match as the first frame neared the midway point with a score from Alex Hammond at the 20:24 mark. Hammond used a pass from Becky Bartos to the right side of the box and sent the ball into the net from eight yards out to put Trevecca on top, 1-0.

The Lady Railsplitters fired seven shots in the first half and six in the second, but would be unable to find the net in the match. LMU’s 13 shots in the contest outpaced the Trojans, who completed the game with 12 attempts. Josefin Hedstrom and Nicole McKinney led all players with four shots apiece.

LMU was stifled in the match by Trevecca keeper Bekah Headrick, who tallied 90 minutes in goal with four stops. LMU keeper Kayla Hanson nearly matched that effort with 90 minutes in goal and three saves.

The Trojans recorded eight corner kicks while the Lady Railsplitters were held to only four. LMU was whistled for ten fouls in the match to 11 for the TNU.

Both team will be back in action Saturday as they travel to Wingate University for a South Atlantic Conference double-header against the Bulldogs
