A man was found lying dead at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Monday. Middlesboro police officers found Walter Baker, 77, lying in a yard at the intersection of Winchester Avenue and 23rd Street.
Middlesboro EMS and the Bell County Coroner’s Office also responded to the call. The preliminary investigation indicated that Baker’s death was due to natural causes. Baker lived nearby and was apparently walking when he collapsed, according to the Middlesboro Police Department.
No foul play is suspected at this time. Coroner Jay Steele will perform a more detailed examination and report his findings to the investigating officer, Sgt. Wade Barnett.
