Margie Vestina Jones Smith, age 73 of Kettle Island, passed away on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at her home.
She was born at Jenson on December 19, 1938, and was a daughter of the late George and Vestina Burns Jones, She had been a homemaker and was a member of the Kettle Island Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Smith; son-in-law, David Brock; sister, Joyce Jones; and brothers, George, Charles David, Wayne, Billy and Earl Craig Jones.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Janie and Les Cox;, Rhonda and Danny Green, Lloyd and Jerri Smith, Barbara and Martin Green, Laura and Anthony Garlich and Christy and Vince Cupp; grandchildren, Tonya (Charlie) Billings, Amy Brock, Chastity Cox, Christopher Green, Mason Smith, Rebecca Green, Ashley Garlich, Dakota Garlich, Brad(Amanda Gray) Rich, Brandon Hoskins, B.J. (Ashley Taylor) Hoskins and Hayley Whitman; great-grandchildren, Paige Billings, David Billings, William Green, Micah Green, William Hoskins and McKinley Rich; brothers and sisters, Hargis Jones, Eddie Jones, Mary Marie Harrison and Euna Whitt; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services were at 8 p.m. on Monday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William “Bill” Philpot presiding. Music was by Larry and Debbie Green.
Cremation followed the services at the Arnett & Steele Cremation Center in Pineville. Private family burial will be in the Big Jim Cemetery at a later date.
