TAZEWELL, Tenn. — A bond has been set at one million dollars in the case against Tony Harrison in connection with the murder of his wife, Vickie Harrison.
On Wednesday, July 29, several witnesses were called to testify in the murder case of Vickie Harrison on July 9.
A sales associate from Sears in Tazewell, where Vickie Harrison was employed for six months, took the stand first.
He spoke of how dependable Mrs. Harrison was as an employee and that she rarely called into work and the last time he spoke with Mrs. Harrison was the afternoon of July 7.
He stated that on the morning of July 8, he spoke with her husband, Tony Harrison who told him that Vickie would not be into work that day because she was sick.
The council had no further questions and the employee was asked to step down. The second to take the stand was Officer Mike Satkowski of the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office.
Officer Satkowski spoke of the events that unfolded in the early morning hours of July 9.
He stated that he was dispatched to the Justice Center to speak with a subject and when he arrived, Mr. Harrison was waiting for him in a red pickup truck.
Mr. Harrison then spoke with Officer Satkowski about what had happened at 145 Mariah Lane in New Tazewell and an investigation was launched in the case.
Sgt. Ted Brindle and Captain David Honeycutt both of the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and Agent Jerry Spoon of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were all dispatched to assist with the investigation.
Agent Spoon took the stand next and said that Mr. Harrison had given the officers consent to search the home that morning. He said the scene was secured and then processed by each of the officers involved in the investigation.
Agent Spoon also read aloud part of Mr. Harrison’s statement from the morning of July 9th.
The statement was entered in as exhibit five by the state.
After the witness exited the stand, the court ruled to stay with the charge of first-degree murder with no bond.
The defense then moved to drop the first-degree murder charges but the judge declined the motion.
A fourth person then took the stand to plea for a bond in Mr. Harrison case and the judge then moved to set the bond at one million dollars.
The investigation in this case is ongoing.
