SPEEDWELL, Tenn. — A vehicle that appeared to be stranded gave officers quite a surprise ON Monday, December 21.

Officer Scott Artz with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office stopped to help the stranded vehicle on Earls Hollow Road in Speedwell.

While Officer Artz was speaking with the men inside the vehicle, he began examining the vehicle and discovered a mobile meth lab located inside it.

On further investigation of the vehicle and the persons inside it, Officer Artz discovered that one of the occupants had outstanding warrants and was in possession of Xanax, Oxycodone and Adipex.

Billy Lee Hatfield was taken into custody and charged with possession of schedule II, possession of schedule IV and initiation of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Marvin Moyers, Jr. was also arrested and charged with possession of schedule II and initiation of manufacturing methamphetamine.

Both will be appearing in court on Thursday, January 7, 2010.

An arrest is an accusation only. Those arrested are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
