Staff Report

A late morning altercation has left one man hospitalized and another in jail.

The Pineville City Police Department responded to a call at approximately 11 a.m. in the Pineville Community Hospital (PCH) parking lot to investigate the alleged stabbing of Terry Treece.

According to Pineville Det. Kevin Goodin, Treece’s neck had been slit with a box cutter type knife. Treece is currently in the PCH intensive care unit in stable condition.

Goodin said Dallas Carl Shackleford II, 50, of Middlesboro, was arrested immediately by PPD and has been charged with first-degree assault. Shackleford is currently in the Bell County Detention Center.

This incident remains under investigation by Goodin.

Why would Shackleford be just charged with assault of any kind? It would seem a charge of attempted murder would be more fitting.
