Phalen was my Uncle. He was always a hard working person. He tried to help his family in any way he could. Phalen had worked in the coal mines, on road construction, he also built his home. He was a stone mason, his work can be seen in Middlesboro at the bank and in many homes. I don't think he had an enemy the world. I loved him because he paid attention to me, even when I was a kid. He loved taking me up the mountain and showing me things-like the fungus on a dead tree. We went fishing at his lake. I will always fondly remember the times we spent together. I'm so glad he was a part of my life.
