Staff Report

Police are searching for a U-Haul trailer stolen from a Bell County business.

Kentucky State Police Public Affairs Officer Shane Jacobs said Ronnie Cox, an employee with the U-Haul dealership, reported a 1992 enclosed U-Haul trailer was stolen from the business along U.S. 25E near Log Mountain. The U-Haul has been missing since Jan. 14.

The trailer has a Georgia license tag with the number of LE54517.

KSP Trooper Ryan Sizemore is investigating the case.

“This happens all the time,” said Cox.

Cox claims a reason trailers are stolen so often is because U-Haul does not require dealers to lock up the equipment. Cox said most of the time people back their vehicles up, connect to the U-Haul trailer and then take off.

Cox said often the U-Hauls are recovered.

Anyone who has information about the theft should contact KSP Post 10 in Harlan by calling 606-573-3131.
