SUNSET BEACH, N.C. — Paced by two top-ten finishers, including a runner-up finish by Connor Froning, the Lincoln Memorial University men’s golf team capped the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate in fourth place. Play was completed on Tuesday afternoon at the Rees Jones Course at Sea Trail Golf Resort in Sunset Beach, N.C.

The Railsplitters notched rounds of 288 and 282 to finish with a two-day total of 570, seven shots behind tournament champion Mount Olive College. Mount Olive captured the crown with two-day splits of 280 and 283. Barton College finished in second with 566, while Wingate University and Belmont Abbey College rounded out the top five.

Froning paced LMU with a runner-up finish after rounds of 70 and 68. Froning completed the tournament at six under par, earning his second-straight top-three finish. Jamie Chapman finished the event at two under with rounds of 70 and 72 to grab a tie for tenth place.

Braden Galyon finished in that tie for tenth place along with Chapman. Galyon fired a 73 on day one and countered with a three-under par 69 in the final round. Rand Wasson finished in a tie for 39th after rounds of 75 and 73 to finish three-over par for the tournament.

Taylor Dreps completed team-play with rounds of 76 and 73, earning a tie for 43rd in the event. Richard Hoskins was the final competitor for the ‘Splitters as he tallied rounds of 76 and 74 to garner a tie for 51st competing as an individual.

Barton’s Daniel Claytor capture medalist honors with a seven-under par tournament toal. Claytor notched rounds of 68 and 69 to take the crown.

The Railsplitters will be back in action on Oct. 15 as they open play at the State Farm Intercollegiate, slated to be played at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville.
