The 11th annual Polar Bear Splash was held on New Year's Day in Cumberland Gap. Pictured is Middlesboro football player Nick Shoffner taking his first ever plunge. He was one of 15 swimmers to take a dip Tuesday and there were around 100 spectators at the event. The air temperature was 47 degrees while the water was a cool 50 degrees for this year's splash.
