Staff Report

Two Lee County men were recently arrested on manufacturing methamphetamine charges. Jonathan McConnell, 44, and James Barry McConnell, 60, were both charged after police discovered a meth lab at Jonathan McConnell’s residence.

According to sheriff Gary Parsons, sergeant A.J. McQueen served a search warrant at the residence of Jonathan McConnell at 1298 Hennegar Town Road in the Rose Hill section of Lee County.

Parsons said as officers arrived to conduct the search they observed two males in a vehicle pulling from the driveway. According to Parsons, officers blocked the vehicle.

Parsons said the driver, James McConnell, tried to back away, but he was pulled from the vehicle before he could escape. Jonathan McConnell was also found inside the vehicle.

Once inside the vehicle, officers found that there were two active meth cooking operations going on inside the vehicle, according to Parsons.

Jonathan McConnell is currently being held without bond and James McConnell is being held on a $5,000 bond.

Parsons said other officers involved with the raid were J.T. Coleman, Warren Wright and Todd Jones.
