According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, Ky., a ”powerful storm system” settled into the area this weekend and will drop a “significant accumulation” of snow that is expected to last through the weekend into early Sunday morning. Extreme southeastern Kentucky is expected to receive the most snowfall.
“By the time the snow tapers off Sunday morning, 4 to 10 inches of the white stuff is expected over southeast Kentucky, with up to a foot possible along the highest ridges along the Virginia border. Accumulations for the rest of the area should end up in the 2 to 4 inch range,” according to the weather service’s website.
