Anita Broughton was arrested Thursday and is charged with criminal homicide in connection with the brutal beating and stabbing death of 45-year-old Rick Ellison.
Officials said Thursday that Ellison was found in his bed at his residence on Boone Hollow Road. He had been beaten severely with a hammer and had stabbed multiple times with a screw driver. The crime took place sometime after 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials are still investigating the incident and said the motive behind the murder is still unknown at this time. Broughton is due to be arraigned in Claiborne County this week. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating the case.
