Cynthia Rogers, wife of Fifth District Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers, R-Ky., was in Middlesboro Friday for the Red Bud Tea.
The tea, hosted by the Cumberland Park Garden Club, the Middlesborough Garden Club, and Bell County Tourism, was part of a series of events in celebration of Red Bud Month.
Accompanying Mrs. Rogers were staffers from the Tour Southern and Eastern Kentucky office.
A short program was hosted by Jeff Crowe from the office of TourSEKY at which Mrs. Rogers spoke and awarded both the Cumberland Park Garden Club and Middlesboro Garden Club $400 each for their efforts.
Judy Barton of Bell County Tourism was also given a certificate of appreciation from the TourSEKY office for her dedication and efforts put forth for tourism in Bell County.
Attendees at the tea voted on photos that were submitted from all over Southeastern Kentucky that featured red buds for the 2010 TourSEKY Red Bud calendar. Thanks to an effort led by Congressman Rogers, red buds were also given away at the tea.
