Arrests made in thefts from vehicles

There have been arrests made in connection with recent thefts from vehicles at Middlesboro Mall.

Fred Howard, Chandra Blevins and Bobbie Carlisle were arrested in Harlan for several charges of receiving stolen property.

According to Lt. Tom Busic of the Middlesboro Police Department, some of the items obtained from the trio came from Middlesboro.

Busic said there were warrants already out for Blevins and Howard prior to their arrest in Harlan.

Middlebsoro Police Chief Jeff Sharpe stated each of the three cars broken into in Middlesboro were unlocked vehicles.

All of the thefts occurred at the Middlesboro Mall.

Busic stated charges are expected to come from several different jurisdictions, including Lee County, Va.

Charges are still pending in Middlesboro.

Busic and MPD officers Brad Cawood and Justin Barton are continuing the investigation.

Sharpe encourages people to lock their cars before going into different businesses and to secure their belongings before exiting the vehicle.
