Helen Bowman, 90 of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at the Pineville Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 1922 at Arthur, Tenn., a daughter of the late Garfield and Kate Barker Marsee. She was a retired Post Master of Cumberland Gap. She was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Bowman, and sister, Christine Bostic.
Survivors include: daughter, Kathy Maxwell of Cumberland Gap, Tenn.; granddaughter, Johnna Shockley of Knoxville, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Benjamin and Evelyn Shockley of Knoxville, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randal Wright presiding. Music will be provided by Jonathan Preston. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Marsee Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Creech Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made in Helen’s name to the Arthur United Methodist Church.
