Staff Report
A forest fire continued to burn on Fonde Mountain on Monday. The call for the fire came in to the Kentucky Division of Forestry at 5:57 p.m. on Sunday, according to Regional Ranger Jeffery Smith.
The cause for the fire has yet to be determined.
Smith said the fire grew to 78 acres before the firefighters placed a burn line. Eventually the fire jumped the burn line Monday and grew approximately 50 more acres, according to Smith.
Smith said crews worked on the fire until midnight on Sunday and three crews continued working the fire on Monday. Smith expects crews to continue working the fire on into the night Monday and throughout the day Tuesday.
