Dana West, Workforce Development Manager for Goodwill Industries of Kentucky, was the guest speaker at Thursday’s Soup and Sandwich at Chinatown Cafe. She explained how Goodwill is dedicated to helping people with disabilities or other disadvantages achieve and maintain employment to gain a better quality of life. She said 87 cents of every dollar made from purchases at Goodwill stays in the community. According to West, the retail stores are just the front of the operation and does not reflect other business that goes on behind the scenes, where their goal is to maintain employment.
