Two Bell County men were arrested on felony drug charges over the weekend.
Robert Steven Curran, 49, of Middlesboro, was arrested on the charge of unlawful distribution of a meth precursor on Sunday.
According to the arrest warrant, the Bell County Sheriff’s Department received a call to Curran’s residence in regards to a meth lab. About 30 feet from Curran’s back door, there were numerous items used for the manufacturing of methamphetamines, according to the warrant.
According to the warrant, Curran showed signs related to the use of methamphetamines. The warrant states that when Curran was asked if he consumed the drug, he admitted he had. Curran was then arrested on the charges.
The arresting officer was deputy B.J. Brock of the sheriff’s department. Deputies Mike Cooper and Erik Saylor also assisted at the scene. Curran was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
Joe Wilder, 34, of Pineville, was also arrested over the weekend on a charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance.
Wilder was arrested by deputy Jared Smith of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department. Brock assisted with the arrest. Wilder was later released on a $2,500 cash bond.
In other police news, Tim D. Carmack, 38, of Middlesboro, was arrested Sunday on the charge of second-degree assault. Carmack was arrested by Middlesboro Police Department Officer Brad Cawood.
According to the arrest citation, Carmack physically injured Ronnie Turner by striking him in the head with a baseball bat. The citation states Turner was being treated at Middlesboro ARH, where his condition became unstable. He was then flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for further treatment.
Carmack was also arrested Saturday for public intoxication of a controlled substance. Carmack remains in the Bell County Detention Center.
