PINEVILLE — Kayla Smith hit two huge 3-pointer in the fourth quarter and finished with 14 points to lead Lynn Camp to a 47-42 win over Middlesboro in come from behind fashion Friday at the Pine Mountain Classic.

Miranda Miller and Merita Burke also scored three points each in the final period and Heather Wilson added a basket as the Lady Wildcats outscored MHS 14-4 in the fourth quarter to escape with the victory.

Lady Jacket junior Amanda Biscardi came off the bench to score a team-high 12 points, all in the second and third quarters. Senior forward Carissa Padgett added 11 points for Middlesboro.

The Lady Jackets led it 38-33 after three quarters, but went cold and failed to make a field goal in the final period. Bailey Hensley hit two free throws, while Padgett and Kelsie Hensley hit one each to account for all of Middlesboro’s points in the fourth quarter.

Joining Smith in double-figures for Lynn Camp were Jessica May with 11 and Wilson with 10. The Lady Wildcats also beat Lee County on Friday to to 3-0 and take first place in the tournament.

Lynn Camp (11-2) returns to action Thursday at Whitley County while Middlesboro (1-11) will host Bell County next Friday.

The Lady Jackets went 1-2 and placed third in the Pine Mountain Classic, but could have easily won all three of their games.

“These three games I thought was really the hardest we’ve played this season. Our kids got after it and got on the floor after loose balls. We’ve just got to put some smarts with the aggressiveness. I’m proud of the way they played hard. I’m a little disappointed in the fourth quarters and how we took care of the basketball,” said MHS coach Elgie Green. “We just don’t know how to win yet in tight ballgames, we have not figured it out. If they’ll keep working hard they’ll get one or two of those wins and hopefully we can turn the second part of the season around.”
