The search for a new superintendent for Middlesboro Independent Schools is progressively moving forward.
The screening committee met on Tuesday for their second meeting in as many weeks.
The purpose of the meeting was for committee members to choose which applicants they wanted to have background checks.
The meeting narrowed down the list of application as the group continues to move through the extensive process.
Once the committee has chosen which applicants they want to move forward with, the checks will begin immediately.
The next screening committee meeting will be held on May 23, with members of the committee finalizing recommendations for the school board.
On May 28, there will be a joint meeting between the board and screening committee.
This meeting will be for the board to receive committee recommendations. A board planning meeting will directly follow the joint meeting.
The board will review superintendent candidates from May 30 through June 6.
A new superintendent will be named June 12.
