The Cumberland Gap Lady Panthers ran their record to 8-6 with a pair of big district wins over West Greene.
Monday the Lady Panthers won at West Greene 12-5 and followed that up on Tuesday with a 12-3 home win to sweep the series.
In Monday’s game senior pitcher Danielle Caldwell gave up three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings while striking out six and not walking a batter to earn the victory.
Cumberland Gap put up one run in the top of the first and four in the second and never trailed in the game.
Third baseman Lindsey Elliott had two singles and two doubles and also walked as she drove in three runs and scored four times to lead the Lady Panther offense. Gena Lake drove in four runs with two singles and a double, Caldwell had three hits and McKayla Hamilton singled and doubled in the game.
On Tuesday, Caldwell again earned the win as she gave up three runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out eight and walking one.
Katilyn McCarty had two doubles and a single, drove in four runs and scored three times to pace the Cumberland Gap offense in that one. Elliott added a two-run homer, Lake had three hits and Olivia Price, Hamilton and Julia Satterfield all hit doubles.
McCarty doubled to bring in Price, who had reached on an error, in the first to tie the game at one. She scored the go-ahead run as Elliott reached on an error.
In the second inning, Price again reached on an error as McKenzie Miracle scored and McCarty followed with an RBI single. In the third, Caldwell walked and Lake singled ahead of Hamilton’s two-run double that made it 6-1.
Elliott hit her two-run shot in the fourth to push the lead to 8-1. Cumberland Gap scored six more runs in the sixth as they went on to the 12-3 win.
The Lady Panthers host Jellico on Thursday.
