Authorities are looking for a man who they say battered his ex-girlfriend in her home last week.
Robert Andrew Hawkins, 32, is wanted on several charges stemming from an incident last Wednesday.
According to Sgt. Shawn Goode, of the Tazewell Police Department, Hawkins allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Tazewell and attacked her.
Hawkins is charged with especially aggravated burglary, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, aggravated sexual battery and driving on suspended.
“He’s entered into NCIC (National Crime Information Center) so if he is caught anywhere, they’ll know about the charges,” said Goode.
The NCIC is a nationwide database that tracks crime-related information.
The victim was the last person to see Hawkins in the Claiborne County area,
Authorities believe he may have fled to Kentucky, where he has family ties. According to Goode, Hawkins has ties to both the Middlesboro and Harlan areas.
Hawkins is described as being 5 feet 11 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. According to Goode, he has lost a substantial amount of weight lately but had been around 190 lbs.
“He’s possibly armed, and needs to be considered dangerous,” Goode added.
He has a history of arrests for assault and domestic assault in both Tennessee and Kentucky, said Goode.
“He has a lengthy history,” he said.
Hawkins may be driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada with the Tennessee tag 481XJY. He might also be driving an older model Toyota pickup.
“We really need the public’s help in finding him,” Goode said.
