It is projected that over 300 people took part in the Bell County MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Walk on Saturday.
The event raised $17,000, with money still coming in. The monetary goal for the event was $11,000.
“It was an emotional day for me,” said Nina Shoemaker, MS Ambassador for Bell County. “I was very touched.”
Shoemaker said she was really pleased with the turnout of the event. There were several people from out-of-town who attended the event, including residents of London and Williamsburg.
Shoemaker expressed her appreciation to the community for their support.
“I thank the community for all the support. I would also like to thank Leadership Bell County,” she said.
Shoemaker’s daughter, Ashley Cambron, was the chairperson for the event.
Shoemaker said the event was about the MS community as a whole.
“It not just about one team or one person,” said Shoemaker. “It’s about everyone who attended the walk. It’s about the event as a whole.”
Shoemaker said there will be another walk/run next year. According to her, they are already planning for the event.
