A Knox County man has been charged by the Kentucky State Police for impersonating a peace officer.
Police reported the arrest of Randy Mills, 46, Corbin, late Friday evening.
KSP Sgt. Jason Bunch said they received a call from Jack Grubb, of Corbin, reporting that a man came to his residence identifying himself as a trooper. The man, dressed in civilian clothes and a ball cap with “Police” on it, was operating a white Ford truck. Bunch said Grubb stated the man identified himself as Trooper Jacob Wilson, handed Grubb a card listing his credentials as trooper Wilson and inquired about a man who frequents the area.
“Mr. Grubb stated the man had failed to convince him he was a trooper and after the subject left, he immediately called post” to report the incident, Bunch said.
At 5:40 p.m., troopers Brian Maupin and Russell Maynard, Bunch and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area to search for the vehicle involved in the incident. It was located only a short distance from the area.
Bunch said Maynard made contact with the alleged suspect. Following further investigation, Mills was arrested.
