A brake malfunction is to blame for a single-vehicle wreck that occurred on Monday, police said. Ashley Powers, Middlesboro, was traveling southbound on U.S. 25E when she felt a “wobble” in the front end of her car, according to deputy Shane Stewart of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department. According to Stewart, Powers applied her brakes and the vehicle did not stop. She lost control of the vehicle, hitting the guardrail before coming to a stop on the side of the northbound lane. No one was injured. Middlesboro EMS responded to the wreck.
