The Bell County Lady Cats posted their sixth straight win on Monday as they pulled away in the second half for a 63-43 win at Williamsburg.

Sophomore Maci Morris put in a game-high 22 points and the Lady Cats also got 12 points from Morgan Garnett and 11 from Kelli Smith in the win.

Williamsburg’s Tarrah Davis scored 11 of her 17 points in the first quarter as the Lady Yellow Jackets stayed close. Bell’s lead was just 16-13 after one.

Bell outscored Williasmburg 16-12 in the second period to extend the margin to 32-25 by halftime.

The Lady Cats put the game out of reach in third quarter, more than doubling their lead with a 16-7 run that made it 48-32 after three quarters. Bell also got six points from Jess Sanders and five from Katrina Johnson as they went on to win by 20.

With the victory Bell County improves to 16-3 on the season, which is the second best mark in the 13th Region. They’ll try to avenge one of those losses this evening — and create a tie atop the 52nd District standings — as they host Harlan County (18-2) at 6 p.m. in the first game of a girls/boys double-header.

Tonight’s boys’ game is also a meeting between the two teams with the best district records as the Bobcats (7-10, 2-1) take on the Black Bears (16-3, 2-0)
