A Speedwell, Tenn. woman is behind bars after being arrested on possession charges. Elizabeth D. Griffin, 31, was arrested on two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and one count of second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
According to the arrest citation, Middlesboro Police Office Barry Cowan noticed a vehicle was parked in front of the Some Like It Hot front door when all businesses were closed. Cowan stated the vehicle was still running with the lights on.
According to the citation, Cowan noticed the driver was passed out upon contact. After awaking Griffin, a search resulted in the alleged findings of a container with the controlled substance inside.
As of Thursday afternoon, Griffin remained in the Bell County Detention Center.
In other police news, a Williamsburg woman was arrested on trafficking charges. Stephanie Nicole Johnson, 24, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Donnie Foley on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance.
She also remained in the detention center as of Thursday afternoon.
