The Middlesboro boys’ golf team came away with two more victories Tuesday at Middlesboro Country Club. The Jackets defeated Barbourville and Knox Central to remain undefeated in conference play.
MHS posted a team total of 167 while Barbourville carded a 178 and the Panthers shot 199, Middlesboro’s record now stands at 24-5 on the season.
Leading the way for the Jackets once again was senior co-captain Michael Wilson with a 40. Close behind Wilson was J.P. Maiden with a 41, and sophomore Micah Robbins carded a 42. Other golfers for MHS were Luke Boyd and Eric Francis who both shot 44.
“ Today was just the opposite of our match last week. We had some guys get off to a great start, but they did not finish very well,” said MHS coach Greg Lasley. “I was really proud of Micah and J.P. for posting solid rounds. Those scores really helped us stay unbeaten in conference play.”
The Jackets will travel to Wasioto Winds today to take on Pineville and Bell County. Next week Middlesboro will step out of conference play with a home match against Clay County and Williamsburg on Monday. On Tuesday they will travel to Corbin to play the Redhounds and South Laurel.
“Next week will be a real challenge for my guys. This will help us down the road as we prepare for the regional tournament. We just have to keep working and always try to get better,” said Lasley.
