A Bell County Day Treatment teacher was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly distributing drugs to a student.
Dwight O. King, 45, of Pineville, was arrested by Bell County Sheriff’s Department Deputy B.J. Brock on the charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and trafficking a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school.
According to Assistant Bell County Attorney Chris Douglas and Brock, preliminary reports state King allegedly trafficked Xanax and hyrdocodone to a student the Friday before spring break.
Administration at the school was notified of the alleged crime when they returned from the vacation, according to Douglas. The information was then sent to central office.
Douglas said currently it is believed that only one student was given pills, but the case is still under investigation by the sheriff’s department. Brock and Deputy Erik Saylor are the investigating officers in the case.
King’s bond was set to $500,000, according to the Bell County Detention Center website.
