Staff Report
The Middlesboro Police Department brought smiles to the face of several children as officers held their annual “Cops for Kids” program at the community center on Tuesday.
The program allows teachers from the Middlesboro Independent School District to select a group of students to join the cops in this event.
This year, 38 kids were selected to participate. These kids were not a part of other shopping events being held in the Tri-State, such as the Roho Shopping Spree.
The MPD purchases clothes and toys for the kids. They receive these gifts during the program at the community center.
The children also are treated to a nice buffet meal.
The children received a special visit this year from Santa Claus.
The Middlesboro Middle and High School Choir performed Christmas songs during the event.
