First State Financial (FSF) held their annual Veteran’s Day program at the Central Arts Building on Thursday. Several Veterans gathered as the company paid tribute to them.
There was a short tribute video played prior to Katherine Reese Capps (FSF President/CEO) giving her introduction. Olivia Kennedy, the daughter of Chera-Lyn Kennedy, sang the national anthem for the veterans in attendance. Following her daughter’s performance, singer/songwriter Chera-Lyn Kennedy sang a couple of songs for the veterans as well.
Vietnam Veteran Mike Marcum spoke briefly before reading a list of soldiers from Bell County that died in action in World War I, World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. Marcum stated that the individuals who were on the list are rarely talked about, yet they gave up so much.
“This is my hall-of-fame,” said Marcum in reference to the soldiers who died in combat.
Following Marcum’s speech, executive vice president of FSF Wade Bevins introduced each veteran that was in attendance at the event. The event closed with a prayer by senior executive vice president Baylor Fulton.
Refreshments were served following the event.
