Middlesboro forward Hannah Sorke sends a shot toward the goal after getting behind Claiborne’s Kaylee Sutton during action in Tuesday’s match.
Sorke scored three goals for the Lady Jackets, but Claiborne’s Ashley Woodward scored six in the Lady Bulldogs’ 10-4 win. Middlesboro also got a goal from senior forward Lauren Jackson while Claiborne got two each from Kelly Zimprich and Tiffany Smock.
It was a 3-3 match late in the first half but the Lady Bulldogs’ depth started to wear on the Lady Jackets, who play with only one sub. Woodward put in two goals before halftime for a 5-3 lead, then added two more on counter attacks early in the second half to put it out of reach.
Middlesboro hosts South Laurel on Thursday.
