CG’s Franklin is BRAC offensive player of year

The Blue Ridge Athletic Conference has announced their football awards for the 2012 season and the Cumberland Gap Panthers are well represented.

Senior quarterback Blake Franklin is the conference offensive player of the year. Franklin completed 125-of-209 passes for 1405 yards and 11 touchdowns and also ran for 760 yards and 15 TDs helping lead the Panthers to a 7-4 record and a second place finish in the BRAC.

The Panthers were also represented on the All-Conference first team by running back Wesley Nance, center Jacob Lorens, offensive lineman Miguel Caffey, linebackers Vincent Digiulian and Jeremiah Lorens, tackle Bradley Fleeman and defensive end Sterling “Rusty” Provins.

Cumberland Gap players named to the second team include defensive back Dakota Brock, receiver Chase Smith, defensive back Jordan Teague, and receivers Dylan Gambrel and Jonathan Estes.

Claiborne’s Jeremy Hurst is the conference lineman of the year and the Bulldogs were represented on the All-Conference first team by Tyler Hatfield and Joseph Ledford. Making the second team from Claiborne were Ross Chadwell, Henry Riggs, Darren Thomas, Paul Estep and Sam Shipley.

The BRAC co-players of the year are Bryce Malone of Chuckey-Doak and Tyrus Rollins of Greeneville. Greeneville’s Lincoln Taylor is the special teams player of the year and the Greene Devils’ Caine Ballard is the coach of the year
