Local musician selected for country music award

A Middlesboro High School student has been selected for a country music award. Kentucky Country Music Association held the annual competition in Elizabethtown on Oct. 21. Blake Branscom, a sophomore at MHS, was selected as Kentucky Male Vocalist of the Year in the category of Traditional Country Music.

He will be competing at nationals, which are scheduled to commence the week of March 10 at the Country Tonight Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Blake is the son of Ron and Melissa Branscom of Middlesboro.
