A man accused of stealing a a 2006 Caterpillar backhoe has been indicted by the Bell County Grand Jury.
Toby Haley, 43, of Pineville, was indicted on the charge of receiving stolen property over $10,000. The backhoe was valued at $60,000.
The initial report of the stolen equipment came on Oct. 22 from representatives of Hinkle Construction company. The equipment had been parked and was being used for the repaving project on U.S. 119 near the KY 987 junction.
Deputies Shane Stewart and B.J. Brock of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department located the stolen equipment on Honeycutt Road on Laurel Hill, according to an earlier press release.
Two more people were also recently indicted on theft charges. Bobby Lee Gibson, 26, of Middlesboro, was indicted on first-degree burglary. Ashley Edwards, 25, of Pineville, was indicted on receiving stolen property under $10,000 and eight counts of receiving stolen property (firearms).
Gibson allegedly entered the residence of the victim and took several guns, old money, old coins and collectible knives from the residence. Edwards allegedly had in her possession the money, coins and collectible knives from the same victim. The items were valued more than $500.
Edwards also allegedly had in her possession several guns. Justin D. Mason was indicted earlier in the month for charges involving the same crime.
Other individuals recently indicted include:
* Jack D. Gore Jr., 30, on the charge of third-degree burglary and for being a persistent felony offender;
* Gary Rainey, 30, of New Tazewell, Tenn., on the charge of second-degree escape;
* Casey Dalton, 37, of Washburn, Tenn., on the charge of theft by unlawful taking over $500;
* Edward Jones Jr., 42, of Flat Lick, on the charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance;
* Lee S. Hoskins, 19, of Kettle Island, on the charge of first-degree robbery;
* Nola Roberta Day, 47, of Middlesboro, on the charge of drug paraphernalia, unauthorized paring in a handicapped zone, disorderly conduct, operating on suspended/revoked operators license, tampering with physical evidence, endangering the welfare of a minor, second- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance and for being a persistent felony offender.
