The Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival will be bringing it’s festivities back to the heart of downtown Middlesboro in honor of it’s 30th anniversary. The dates for the 2012 CMFF is Oct. 5 and 6.
As always, the festival will offer many fun activities for all ages, especially the younger festival goers.
Children’s activities will include the crowd pleasing animal conservation show, Silly Safaris, from Indianapolis, Ind., on both days. Come out and see Coyote Chris as he demonstrates with live animals conservation education and loads of fun for the kids. At long last, people, animals and fun have been reunited in one package … Silly Safaris!
On Friday, local singers, the Middlesboro Primary and Intermediate choirs under the direction of music instructor Rhonda House Eleam, will be performing.
“Come listen to our students as they perform a variety of patriotic classics and other familiar tunes,” said Michelle McGlone, CMFF Children’s Activities Chair.
On both days, children can also enjoy the juggling skills of local talent, Jared Sizemore, also known as “Juggling Jared.” A senior in high school, Sizemore began his entertainment business at age 15. He sculpts over 25 different balloon animals and juggles a variety of objects. In addition to his artistic talent, Sizemore is also a 2012 Kentucky Governor’s Scholar and was most recently named a finalist for the Young Entrepreneur award category of the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Awards (EIEA) for southeastern Kentucky.
Another local talent, Patrick Francisco, from Harrogate, Tenn., will be performing a variety of card tricks and magic throughout the festival between Silly Safari shows and main stage performances.
Lastly, the popular and favorite, All American Lumberjacks, from Minnesota will be performing with several children’s shows scheduled.
Throughout the festival will be the children’s ride, Little Pete’s Railroad, that will take riders around downtown festival grounds.
The Cumberland Mountain Fall festival invites area children on Oct. 6 to participate in the exhibit, “Kids Crafter’s Corner” for ages 6-16. Students are encouraged to bring handmade crafts (e.g., birdhouses, knitting projects, handmade jewelry, etc.) to sell to the public. Call McGlone at 276-220-1012 to register your craft.
