An Ingram woman was arrested Friday for allegedly hitting her two children. Mavis Gibson, 46, was arrested by Kentucky State Police Trooper Roy Pace and charged with two counts of second-degree assault.
According to the arrest citation, KSP received a complaint from faculty at Lone Jack School Center. Two siblings allegedly arrived at school with bruises on multiple areas of their body.
The children were taken to Bell County Social Services where their injuries were photographed, according to the arrest citation. The children were also interviewed.
According to the citation, information was received that the mother (Gibson) had given the children a whipping with a white paddle. The children were sent to Pineville Community Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
Gibson was released from the Bell County Detention Center on Saturday.
In other police news, a Greeneville, Tenn. man was arrested on a drug charge Sunday. Leroy Christian, 67, was arrested by James Taulbee of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department and charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance.
According to the arrest citation, the sheriff’s department received a 911 call in reference to a person driving reckless. The caller said the subject went across the U.S. 119 bridge in the opposite lane.
According to the citation, once stopped, a beer was between Christian’s legs and in the passenger seat. Later, jail staff recovered two white pills believed to be Percocet.
Gibson was also charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, operating on a suspended/revoked license and for not wearing a seat belt. He was released from the detention center on Monday.
