Facility discussions continue at Bell school board meeting

The Bell County Board of Education continued discussions about facility projects during the regular meeting on Tuesday. The board approved a BG-1 for Bell Central modular units.Title I Supervisor Jeff Saylor said they will be able to complete about 50 to 65 percent of the project during the summer. There will be a need to rotate classrooms from August to December in order for to take place in the phasing plan developed by RossTarrant Architects.Saylor said two modular units will be leased. The units will be budgeted in the general fund.The board also approved a few items in regards to the Yellow Creek renovation project. They approved a revised BG-1, a revised owner/architect agreement and an owner/construction manager agreement.

 

Smithfield takes PRIDE in canal

Smithfield led their fourth annual cleanup Wednesday along the canal in Middlesboro as part of Kentucky’s PRIDE initiative.The nine volunteers from Smithfield collected seven bags of trash and waste as well as shopping carts and tires along the banks of the canal.Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment (PRIDE) spans 42 counties in the Commonwealth. The first Second Saturday event of the season kicked off this past weekend in Cumberland Gap, Tenn.
