Both Cumberland Gap's boy's and girl's teams came up short on the road on Tuesday at Pigeon Forge High School.

The Lady Panthers fell 87-46 while the Cumberland Gap boys' team were edged 66-61.

The Lady Panthers fought hard in the first to trail by only three points as the hosts held a 19-16 advantage at the beginning of the second quarter.

Pigeon Forge took control the game in the second period, however, using a 22-3 run to take a 41-19 lead at the half.

Cumberland Gap came out with a spark once again in the third outscoring Pigeon Forge 15-14; however, the Lady Tigers were just too strong in the fourth. Pigeon-Forge went on to win this district match-up 87-46.

Cumberland Gap's boys led 18-16 at the end of the first, thanks to Javan Crockett's 14 points, but went down 35-37 at the half.

Cumberland Gap was outscored in both the third and fourth quarters, and was defeated 66-61. This is the Panthers third district loss; they are now 14-6 on the season.

Both Cumberland Gap teams are on a home winning streak after last week's match-ups with Hancock County, Union County, and Thomas Walker.

The Lady Panthers defeated Union County, 54-50, on Jan. 14. They were led by point guard Sara Barnard with 19, followed by Amy Seal's 11. Renae Devault led Union with 20.

Then on Jan. 15, Cumberland Gap hosted Thomas Walker, VA. The Lady Panthers finished over the Lady Pioneers 66-49.

Barnard led again with 23, followed by Whitney Vannoy with 14.

The Panthers also had two impressive finishes last week, defeating Union County 56-46, and Thomas Walker 83-47.

Cumberland Gap will host Gatlinburg Pittman today starting at 6 p.m., and will crown their 2005 Homecoming Queen between the girls and boys games.
