Plagued by slow starts for much of the season, the Lady Jackets again experienced some offensive woes in the opening frame as the teams played to a 9-9 tie.
Middlesboro picked up the scoring in the second frame, but Jackson kept pace as the Lady Jackets led by just three points at the break.
The game turned in the second half as Middlesboro went on a 20-10 run throughout the third period to take a 47-34 lead heading into the final frame.
Middlesboro continued its strong play late, pulling away for the 22-point win.
The Lady Jackets were led by strong play inside, getting 17 points apiece from forwards Mary Flanary and Brooklynn Jimison. Freshman center Ashley Williams came off the bench to add eight points.
Sophomore point guard Emily Osborne added 12 points.
Eighth-grade standout Kourtney Tyra led Jackson County with 18 points.
Middlesboro (9-8) will play host to Pineville today in the first game of a girls/boys doubleheader. Jackson County (2-16) plays host to regional power Rockcastle County today.
