Harlan committed 27 turnovers and shot just 29 percent (12-for-42) in a 67-32 loss to Corbin in the first round of the 13th Region Tournament at Cawood High School.
"We didn't work real hard," Harlan coach Chuck Mitchell said. "It seemed like we froze up a little bit. We just couldn't get the ball up the court.
"Inconsistency has been our main problem all year, and that comes with a long season. I think they were a little worn out, and I don't think they were focused, which you've got to be in a regional tournament."
The Lady Redhounds were able to keep Harlan center Kendra Latham from being a factor, something no team had managed to do this year. Latham was held to four points and one rebound, both season lows.
Corbin coach Jennifer Parsons gave credit to forward Morgan Barley for keeping Latham quiet.
"Morgan Barley played excellent. Few people can get position on her because her feet are so quick and athletic. I think tonight she did exactly what we wanted her to do," she said.
"And not just that, but I think our guard play was more intense, making it hard for them to get open looks in to (Latham). And we always had helpside there, because we knew she was their go-to player."
Harlan trailed by just five points after the first quarter, but the Lady Redhounds took control in the second period, outscoring Harlan 22-6.
Barley opened the period with a three-point play. After Harlan forward Rhonda Curtis answered with a turnaround jumper, the Lady Redhounds rattled off seven straight points, including another three-point play by forward Katie Akins.
The Lady Dragons turned the ball over 18 times in the first half, and it showed in the shot differential. Corbin put up 32 shots in the first two quarters, compared to just 17 by Harlan.
Neither team could get anything going offensively in the third quarter. Akins and Barley each drained a pair of free throws for the Lady Redhounds to open the period.
Jones and Curtis each scored seven points to lead Harlan (15-14).
Chassidy Lawson, an eighth-grader, came off the bench to add six points and six rebounds.
The Lady Redhounds were led by Akins and Barley with 17 and 14 points, respectively. Jackson came off the bench to contribute 11.
Corbin (25-4) advances to Saturday's semifinals against state power Rockcastle County. The Lady Rockets routed Middlesboro 82-41 in Thursday's first game.
"Rockcastle is an excellent team. We have nothing to lose - we're going to give it everything we've got. I think we can play with Rock. I think we match up with them well," Parsons said.
"We'll have to keep our turnovers down and take care of the basketball. We'll see what happens."
