PINEVILLE - A Middlesboro woman was sentenced to serve 12 months in the Bell County jail and four years probation after she entered a plea of guilty to amended charges of facilitation to commit assault and first degree facilitation to commit robbery.

Sarah Griffin (Partin), 24, was sentenced on charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Aug. 26 of last year.

According to court documents, Griffin attempted to help Joseph Sibley and James Fuston in committing assault by stabbing Kenneth Span in the abdomen with a knife and hitting in the head with a hammer.

In the same incident, Griffin attempted to help Sibley and Fuston in committing robbery.

In unrelated case, another Middlesboro woman was sentenced for theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

Tiffany S. Partin, 27, entered a plea of guilty after appearing in court. Her charges stem from an incident which occurred Dec. 20 of 2003 in which she shoplifted merchandise from Wal-Mart valued at $1,987.63.

Partin was sentenced to serve 5 years in prison but will actually only serve 90 days in the Bell County Jail. She will serve out the remaining sentence on supervised probation.
