Barry Philpot, 37, was a language arts teacher and former assistant football coach at Bell High. Details from the accident were not available at press time.
Bell County Superintendent George Thompson said that sports and extracurricular activities at the high school would be canceled until at least Wednesday.
In addition there will be no school at Bell High on Wednesday.
"We're going to have grief counselors on hand for students and staff at the school for at least the next couple of days," Thompson said. "Barry was a very popular teacher there with the students as well as the teachers and staff members."
Visitation for Philpot will be Tuesday evening and funeral will be Wednesday at Bell County High School School. Other arrangements are still being finalized.
